The 1st July “by-invitation-only” event held at IAHGames iCafé at Funan IT Mall attracted more than 30 participants from the Singapore Ministry of Education’s School Division. IAHGames Director for Education Initiatives, Marketing and Strategy, Thomas Chong, urged participants of the full-housed event to actively engage today’s youths where they are at - in massively-multiplayer online games (MMOGs).

“Cyber gaming can be a good servant or a bad master,” says Mr Thomas Chong who is also a Fellow at Stanford University, USA.

The participants - School Superintendents and senior officers of MOE - hit the ground running during an hour of fun-filled racing with Top Speed, IAHGames latest kart racing MMMOG. With Top Speed’s simplified controls, most participants were able to speed off without much of a hassle, even though it was their first time playing an MMOG. A few complained of a headache but I guess they were probably trying out stunts normally disallowed on the race-track!

Many participants left with a deeper understanding and insight as to how MMOGs might be used as educational tools or be used to reinforce certain values. These were no longer possibilities as many schools and 2 polytechnics had already used our MMOG titles such as Granado Espada, Hellgate London, etc to teach and promote environmental education, pro-social behaviour, national education, marketing, etc.
